Spider Vein Therapy Spider Vein therapy is a specialty treatment for unsightly veins and spider veins. This mildly invasive medical procedure uses an injection of a solution (generally a salt solution) directly into the vein. The solution irritates the lining of the vessel, causing it to swell and stick together. Even though the procedure might sound a bit uncomfortable, it is time-tested and proven safe having been used effectively since the 1930s. The results you can get are terrific: between 50 and 80 percent of injected veins may be eliminated with each session. In general, spider veins respond to treatment in 3 to 6 weeks, and larger veins respond in 3 to 4 months. Gradually the vessel turns into scar tissue and fades away from view. |
